Put away the shoes
Shoes come off on the move. The body is heading inside, the mind is elsewhere, and the rack stands two metres away in the wrong direction. The pictures below place the last step where it belongs, right after the shoes come off.

About this visual support
The problem with the shoes is not laziness but direction. Coming home is a movement inwards, and putting the shoes away requires a step back out into the hall. That small counter-movement is just large enough not to happen, especially when the mind is already on something else, which is why shoes stay put even for people who know perfectly well where they belong.
Visual support ties the arrival into a single chain. Shoes off, shoes on the rack, coat up. When the last step is visible as part of the same sequence it stops being an extra trip and becomes a continuation of what is already under way.
A concrete tip is to move the rack to where the shoes actually land. If the place lies in the direction of travel, nobody has to turn around. In Routined coming home can sit as a short three-step routine, and the app can be tried for fourteen days at no cost.
