The hallway is a place you would rather rush straight through. Your child is already in the room in their head, with the toy or the snack, and so the shoes tend to stay on and the jacket ends up half off on a chair. The little pause between outside and inside gets skipped, and then the outdoor clothes lie scattered in a heap.
