Turn out the horses

About this visual support
In the morning the horses go out to the paddock, and at many stables the children help. A horse eager to get out can pull on the lead rope, and a gate left open can become a problem for the whole yard. That is why most stables have clear rules: lead on the left side, hold the rope in the right hand, turn the horse towards the gate before taking off the halter and always close the gate behind you.
The visual support makes the rules concrete. The pictures show a woman leading a horse through a gate, adults leading horses and a pony out of the stable. Build the sequence: put on the halter, clip on the lead rope, lead the horse calmly at arm's length, open the gate, go in and turn the horse towards the gate, take off the halter, go out and close the gate. The picture of the gate closing is as important as the first one.
A practical tip is to start with a calm pony and let an adult walk alongside the first few times. Ask the people who run the stable about their rules, so the pictures match. If you want the stable's morning chores as a checklist with pictures, you can try Routined for 14 days at no cost.
