Pickup often arrives mid-something. The child may be inside a game, a conversation or a last task when it is suddenly time to go, and breaking off abruptly is harder the more absorbed you are. Shifting from the school's pace to the trip home means moving focus quickly, which drains energy at the end of a long day.

Visual support gives the ending a shape. When the child sees that the day rounds off, the backpack is packed and a familiar person comes to collect them, the close becomes predictable rather than a jolt. The picture of who is collecting also answers a common worry: who is coming today.

One tip is to add a closing picture for whatever the child was doing, such as tidying up or saying goodbye to a friend, so the moment gets a clear end before the trip home begins.
