Get mom
Go and get mom sounds simple, but for a child it is a whole mission: find her, say why, and come back together. The pictures below make that mission visible from start to finish.

About this visual support
Dinner is on the table and someone calls out for the child to go and get mom. For an adult that is one thing, but for the child it is several things at once: leave what they are doing, find mom in another room or out in the garden, remember what they were meant to say, and then actually come back. It is easy to stop halfway, get caught up in a toy on the way, or forget the message once they are standing in front of her.
The visual support shows the goal of the errand: a boy running hand in hand with his mom, and a picture of someone pointing toward mom and the house. The picture works as proof of what counts as done, which is coming back together. Give the child the message as one short sentence to carry, such as dinner is ready, and let them repeat it before they go. The same card works when you are meeting mom at the bus or picking her up from work.
In Routined you can add getting mom to the daily schedule at dinner or in the afternoon, and you can try the app for 14 days at no cost.
