Fetch the gym bag
The gym bag usually gets fetched in the same minute the shoes go on and someone is already waiting by the door. The pictures below turn fetching it into a task with its own beginning and end instead of an extra job in the busiest moment.

About this visual support
The gym bag is nearly always still sitting there when you reach the hallway. It has to be collected at exactly the point where shoes go on, the water bottle needs filling and somebody is calling that you are late, so for your child it is one job too many in a minute that is already full. What looks like forgetfulness is usually a problem of getting started while everything else is happening at once.
Visual support works here as a memory kept outside the head. If the pictures show where the bag lives, what goes into it and where it should end up before you leave, your child does not have to hold the whole list while the household is heading out. A tip specific to the gym bag: move the fetching to the evening before rather than the minute before, and let your child park the bag by the door as the final step. The morning task then shrinks to picking up something that is already waiting.
In the Routined app you can set fetching as a repeating step on training days only. The first fourteen days are free to try out.
