Pack the PE bag

The packing itself takes two minutes. The hard part is knowing that today is the day the bag comes along, and the visual schedule below ties the weekday to the things that go inside it.

About this visual support

The PE bag is not really a packing problem, it is a calendar problem. The clothes are simple, shorts, a t-shirt, socks and trainers, but the task depends on someone knowing that it is Tuesday and that Tuesday means PE. A child who does not yet carry the weekdays in their body can pack flawlessly and still do it on the wrong day.

So visual support works best here when it is tied to the week rather than only to the bag. A row of pictures next to the timetable, or a card that only appears on PE days, makes the connection visible without you having to say it every time. What goes in the bag then becomes the easy half.

One concrete move is to repack on the way home, on the same day the lesson happened, and hang the bag on the hook immediately. The bag is then always ready and the only question left is whether it travels today, which is one question instead of five. Both the weekly timetable and the packing list can be set up with pictures in Routined, where days can repeat automatically, and the app can be tried for fourteen days at no cost.
