Bag is ready
There is a short moment between putting in the last item and pulling the zip shut, and that is where the check belongs. The pictures below turn that check into a visible step of its own rather than something you assume you did.

About this visual support
Packing and being ready are two different things. Packing is the doing, while ready requires someone to compare the contents against what the day actually needs. That comparison is hard when the morning is already late, so it is the first thing to be skipped. The result shows up a few hours later, when the sports kit or the lunch box turns out to be sitting at home.
Visual support gives the check a place of its own. One picture with four things to look for is faster than remembering four things, and it can hang exactly where the bag stands. The child gets something to point at, and the adult stops being the only one holding the list in their head.
One tip is to let the picture show the variables rather than everything: what always lives in the bag needs no check, while sports clothes and instruments do. In Routined the evening packing and the morning check can sit as two steps at different times, and the app can be tried for fourteen days at no cost.
