Pack for the activity

Goggles are the size of a palm and rarely sit where anyone is looking. It is those small things that decide whether the session happens, and the visual schedule below gives each of them a square of its own.

About this visual support

It is rarely the towel or the shoes that go missing. It is the goggles, the swim cap, the mouthguard or the small hair tie, things too little to be visible in a half packed bag and too necessary to skip. One forgotten detail can end the session before it starts, even when ninety percent of the packing was right.

Pictures work particularly well for small parts, because every item gets the same amount of space. A picture of the goggles weighs as much as a picture of the towel, and so it gets the same attention. The child scans the row, compares it with the bag, and finds the gap at home rather than in the changing room.

A practical habit is to keep the small things in a little pouch that lives permanently in the bag. Then the check becomes one picture instead of five, and the pouch is easy to top up when something runs out. If you want the list to travel in a phone, the activity can be set up with pictures in Routined, and the app can be tried for fourteen days at no cost.
