After breakfast
The plate is empty, but nothing says what happens now. That is exactly where many mornings lose their momentum, and the pictures below fill the gap between the last bite and the front door with steps you can point at.
♂Boy clearing his breakfast plate
A smiling boy puts a yellow plate into the sink beside a red bowl and a cereal box, with a milk carton on the counter and a clock on the wall.
♂Person wiping the breakfast table
A smiling person wipes a round table with a cloth beside a red bowl with a spoon and a glass of juice, holding a napkin over a yellow bin.
⚲Push in chair after breakfast
A child pushes in the chair while a hand wipes the table next to the breakfast dishes.
About this visual support
Transitions are harder than the tasks they connect. Eating is clear: there is a plate, a spoon and an end. What comes after breakfast, on the other hand, is invisible. The child stays seated, the plate stays put, and the adult hears themselves repeat the same sentence three times while the clock keeps moving.
Visual support makes the invisible part visible. Two or three pictures straight after the breakfast card are often enough: carry the plate, brush teeth, fetch the jacket. For children who need extra clarity around transitions, including many children with ADHD, it is usually this kind of gap that creates the morning conflict rather than the tasks themselves.
One tip is to arrange the pictures in the order the body already moves: kitchen first, then bathroom, hallway last. The sequence then becomes a route through the home instead of a list. In Routined the morning can sit as a chain where each step is ticked off, and the app can be tried for fourteen days at no cost.
