About this visual support
A pile of clothes on the floor is really a simple task, but to a child it can look like one shapeless mass with no clear beginning. Where do you grab? When the whole pile feels like a mountain, it is often the decision about where to start, not the picking up itself, that keeps it from ever getting done.
Visual support breaks the task into steps you can take one at a time: first the socks, then the shirts, then into the basket. When each part has a clear order, the child does not have to see the whole pile at once and can focus on one garment at a time. What looked impossible becomes a row of small, manageable actions.
A tip: turn it into a short game, for example picking up everything of one colour first, so the task gets a clear start and a play element. A small frame makes it easier to begin.
