Clean your room
A child does not see the room as a task but as an impossible whole with no way in, and the decision alone can trigger resistance before anything is even done. Pictures split the mess into steps you take one at a time. See the support below.

About this visual support
A messy room is, for many children, not a list of things to do but one big shapeless mass. Where do you start? When the whole task looks impossible from the doorway, it is often the decision, not the work itself, that triggers the resistance and makes the child turn away.
Visual support breaks the whole into parts you can take one at a time: first the books, then the clothes, then the toys. When each step has its own picture, the child does not have to hold the entire plan in their head and can focus on one thing at a time. What looked impossible suddenly becomes a row of small tasks in a clear order.
A tip: start with the category that shows the most, for example everything on the floor, so progress is visible right away and motivation holds. An early visible win makes the rest easier. In the Routined app you can build the cleanup as a sequence of pictures and let the child check off each part, so the end is always in sight.
