Stick in one hand, eye guards in the other, jersey crumpled in the bag. The visual support below shows the child what comes out when, so the start in the locker room is not a hunt for missing pieces.

About this visual support

Floorball is one of the few youth sports where the gear is split between clothes, stick and eye guards – three different items that all need to arrive together. That is why children often forget something, usually the guards, just as they should be heading onto the court. The pictures will not solve a tight schedule, but they do solve the forgetting.

By seeing the whole kit as a sequence of images, the child can unpack the bag in the same order every time: jersey on, shorts on, socks, then the stick out and finally the eye guards up on the forehead while waiting for face-off. When they point at the next picture themselves, you stop nagging and the coach stops waiting. A floorball-specific tip: place the eye guards on top of the jersey inside the bag, so they are the first thing seen when it opens.

In Routined you can build the sequence with photos of the child's own gear, so the colour of the stick tape and the length of the shaft are recognisable. 14-day trial available.
