A taxi differs from the family car in a way a child feels at once: behind the wheel sits a grown-up they have never seen before. Climbing in and putting on the belt asks for trust in a stranger, and without knowing how the ride will go, the simple part of the situation can feel uncertain.
That is why it helps to go through the taxi ride with visual support before it happens. When the pictures show the driver greets you, you sit in the back, fasten the belt, ride along and get out at the end, the unknown becomes understandable. Your child sees that a driver is someone with a job to take you where you are going, and that the whole ride follows an order that does not change. That sense in advance makes it easier to take the step into the car.
One concrete tip: include a picture of where you are heading, so your child can keep their eyes on the destination during the ride.
