Play the trumpet

#trumpet#music#practice

The trumpet sounds impressive after just a few weeks, but it needs daily practice for the lips to build stamina. Pictures turn practice into a short, clear routine. You will find the visual support below.

About this visual support

Many children choose the trumpet at music school because it sounds so big. It is an instrument where progress is easy to hear, but where the body also sets limits: the lips get tired, breathing has to be trained and ten minutes a day gives more than an hour on Sunday. The hard part is rarely the playing itself, but getting started every day.

The visual support turns practice into a routine. The pictures show boys and adults playing and practising with sheet music. Use them to show the steps: take the trumpet out of the case, fit the mouthpiece, buzz with the lips, play long notes, practise the homework tune, wipe it and put it back. A picture of the sheet music helps the child know which tune applies this week, and a timer shows when the session is done.

A practical tip is to keep the trumpet on a stand in the room instead of putting the case in the wardrobe, so the threshold is lower. Let the child play the tune for someone in the family on Friday. If you want a daily practice moment with a picture and timer in the routine, you can try Routined free for 14 days.
