Screen Time Until 10
When screen time runs out, it often feels like something was yanked away mid-flow. With visual support, your child can see ten approaching in advance, so the end becomes expected rather than sudden. The steps are below.
♂Screen time until 10
A boy sits holding a tablet showing 10:00 with a downward arrow, marking the end of screen time.
About this visual support
Ten o'clock means nothing to someone wholly absorbed in a tablet. Time slips by without being felt, and then the grown-up is standing there saying it is over now. For your child it comes out of nowhere, right in the middle of a game that just got exciting, and the protest is loud.
Visual support makes the end visible long before it arrives. When your child sees the screen, a picture showing that the time is nearly up and what happens afterwards, ten stops being a surprise and becomes a point they have been moving towards all along. Knowing the end is near makes it easier to start winding down in their head rather than fighting it.
One concrete tip: add a final warning as its own step, a picture that says one more round. Then your child can finish what they were doing and switch off on their own terms, which feels far less like being interrupted. If you want to tie screen time to a timer and a clear ending, you can put it together in the Routined app.
